Emoticons - you either love 'em or hate 'em. Emoticons are used to help other readers know how you feel and to interpret the real intention of a remark, be it irony, humour, sarcasm etc. E-mails, by their nature can contain no visual or verbal clues and so we can use emoticons. Which one depends on whether you're kidding, serious, happy, sad, excited or bored. People are having a lot of fun with these, there's no denying some are very clever, let's hope you can too!
